Where our name comes from

Honouring Keira

Keira was my niece who sadly passed away at 5 years old from a rare life-limiting illness called Schimke Immuno-Osseous Dysplasia. This is a genetic condition and causes multi-organ dysfunction.

In her short time on this earth, Keira brought joy and happiness to all that knew her and she loved nothing more than to have parties and have fun. She was a wise soul for her young age and I decided to honour her memory within the name of our group.

Kingdom means we are inclusive to all illnesses and disabilities. Whether that be physical, mental or life-limiting conditions. We believe in a united strength amongst all people with illnesses or disabilities.

What we stand for

Mission statement

Keira’s Kingdom was set up to provide support for any child or adult currently living with a life-limiting or chronic illness. Within chronic illnesses we also support any child or adult currently living with any mental health conditions.

Our main reason for offering the support we provide is to aim to promote inclusion within this specified group of people and to prevent social isolation, plus we aim to prevent and combat poor mental health within this specified group.

The charity is named after my niece Keira who sadly passed away at 5 years old due to having an extremely rare life-limiting illness.
